The political crisis in the country and the move toward new elections are creating serious uncertainty for Kosovo’s economy, putting business stability and overall economic development at risk.

This was stated at a meeting organized by the Kosovo Chamber of Commerce and Industry with the business community.

The Chairman of the Board, Skender Krasniqi, and the Chairman of the Assembly of the Chamber, Hamdi Malushaj, emphasized that despite the numerous challenges Kosovo has faced since the beginning of last year, the Chamber has remained continuously active in addressing both the achievements and the problems of the private sector.

Meanwhile, the Executive Director, Kushtrim Ahmeti, stressed that frequent elections are generating direct costs for the economy.

“Each new electoral process means months lost for decision-making and development projects. This is costing businesses through delays, financial losses, and significant uncertainty about the future and investments. The economy cannot wait indefinitely for political cycles — it needs immediate stability.”

Business representatives outlined the challenges they are facing, including rising production costs, high levels of imports, lack of institutional support, and numerous delays in decision-making.

They underlined the role of the Chamber as a strong voice for businesses, lobbying for concrete solutions, proposing facilitating policies, and mediating communication between institutions and the private sector.

The meeting also highlighted the importance of establishing political stability as a prerequisite for economic development, as well as the need for swift and sustainable decision-making.

Participants agreed to intensify communication and mutual cooperation in order to more effectively address challenges and protect the interests of the business community during this challenging period.
