Dhoma e Tregtisë dhe Industrisë Kosovë

The Kosovo Chamber of Trade and Industry expresses its deep concern regarding the recent actions taken by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Development and the Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning.

At a time when discussions with institutions are focused on finding ways to unblock the activity of many businesses in different sectors, which were hindered by the Law on Public Property, the leaders of the two ministries have imposed, without prior consultation, a moratorium on the quarrying sector in Kosovo.

CTIK emphasizes that ad hoc decisions and without consultation have caused considerable damage to the economy and the continuation of such practices only deepens the crisis.

Due to the blockade caused by the Law on Public Property and other obstacles following it, the majority of gravel imported into Kosovo comes from Serbia, which has endangered many jobs, reduced economic activity, caused price instability and increased the percentage of imports.

The Chamber is in constant communication with all businesses affected by the law and the moratorium decisions and together they will decide on further steps.
